At the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, a collaboration between OCEC and VEGA Inter Trade Exhibitions hosts the 15th edition of MIJEX, the region's premier jewellery exhibition.

Top local and international exhibitors present fine jewellery, gems and accessories in modern and classic designs, and MIJEX elevates Oman's standing as a key destination for luxury and innovation.

The khanjar takes months to make. The blade is forged from steel, the handle is carved, and the scabbard is wrapped in fine silver wire, woven by hand in patterns that never repeat. Its famous curved shape has not changed in four hundred years.

Hand-worked gold

The Bangles,
raised by hand.

Handmade Omani gold bangles, spike by spike.

These bangles are made of solid twenty-two karat gold. The goldsmith melts the gold, shapes the band on an iron form, then raises every spike and bead by hand with hammer and file. This design is centuries old, and came to Oman along the ancient trade routes of the Gulf.

Omani heritage

The Mandoos,
bound in brass.

The traditional Omani treasure chest.

The mandoos is built from rosewood or teak, brought to Oman by sea from India. Craftsmen cover the wood with sheets of brass, cut into stars and moons, and fix them with hundreds of small nails. The finest chests were made in the port city of Sur, more than two hundred years ago.
